What happens during a Reiki treatment?
During a Reiki treatment, you lay fully clothed on a massage table, covered with a blanket and wearing an eye pillow, while listening to soothing music. Your Reiki practitioner places their hands on your body in a series of hand positions to deliver Reiki energy. At Bend Reiki, we use a variety of general hand positions to address the most common areas including: 1) head 2) heart 3) belly 4) knees and 5) feet. At all times, we practice safe touch. Bend Reiki Clinic offers half hour to one hour reiki sessions with one or two practitioners working on a client at a time.
What does Reiki feel like?
Reiki feels warm and profoundly relaxing. Most experience feeling the
hands of their Reiki practitioner get very hot and, soon after, notice they
have become deeply relaxed, with a sense of total well-being. Some feel tingling or energy movement through the body while receiving Reiki. Others experience seeing colors or entering a light sleep or trance state, like a waking dream. And some feel nothing at all. Be assured, Reiki healing energy helps us regain robust health whether or not we feel it working. Reiki induces a powerful relaxation response, which allows us to heal more quickly on physical, mental and emotional levels.
What are the benefits of several sessions?
Just like meditation, or movement arts, the effects of Reiki are cumulative. While one session can work wonders, repeated, regular Reiki treatments can change your life in positive ways. As an example: if you sit in meditation once for ten minutes, you will receive benefit. If you sit in meditation every day for a month, many propose your life will begin to change profoundly. Reiki works similarly – regular sessions are supportive of our well-being in every way.
Can Reiki “cure” me?
Reiki is a complementary methodology of energy healing that works with
and supports all other wellness treatments. Often, although we may look for
a "quick fix," we learn that healing is more about gentle shifts in awareness, releasing emotional patterns, new understandings and daily practice. Reiki
is not a magic bullet or a miracle cure for any ailment, and never replaces licensed medical treatment. Rather, it is a powerful way to support wellness
for the physical, mental and emotional bodies.
